The winner of District 10's 2009 Rose Scholarship is Violet Marie Jordan from Rudy, Arkansas. Violet Marie, who was nominated by the Zonta Club of Ft. Smith, is currently attending Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. She plans to get a Bachelor's degree in Professional studies with a focus in Public Relations. Violet Marie is an outstanding young woman, and a single parent, with two young boys. She also has an impressive record of volunteerism in community services.
At one time, Violet Marie (known as Shelby to her friends) was homeless, jobless, and intimidated by the future, and living in a domestic violence shelter for abused women. She is certainly an excellent candidate for this scholarship.
